Professor John Burnside I am able to supervise students working on creative non-fiction, short fiction and the novel. Application deadlines for receipt of complete study application: Faculty of Arts scholarships offer financial assistance for students studying in the Faculty of Arts who are academically gifted but would otherwise struggle with the cost of crextive at St Andrews.
Class sizes typically range from three to ten students, ensuring high levels of individual attention. Putting together the final thesis was a totally absorbing poetic and editorial exercise. If students choose not to complete the dissertation requirement for the MLitt, there is an exit award available that allows suitably qualified candidates to receive a Postgraduate Diploma. This module allows members of staff to offer a choice of Special Topics which are available based on staff rotation and current research interests.

What are your chances at St Andrews?
andrees By choosing an exit award, you will finish your degree at the end of the second semester of study and receive a PGDip instead of an MLitt. Taught modules consist of weekly or fortnightly classes and seminars, of one to two hours each, with class sizes typically ranging from three to ten students. Teaching methods include seminars, workshops and individual tutorials.
Obtaining the listed entry requirements will not guarantee you a place, as the University considers all aspects creatiive every application including, where applicable, the writing sample, personal statement, and supporting documents.
The MFA is a two-year programme. St Andrews was the first Scottish university to offer a postgraduate degree in creative writing, and since the MLitt degree was set up inmany alumni have gone on to publish prize-winning literary fiction and poetry in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.
